Are Urine And Yeast Infections Harmful In First Trimester Of Pregnancy ?

is urine infection and yeast infections are harmful in first trimester of pregnency? my doctor has adviced me monistat for vaginal use for yeast infection and clindomycin-300 mg for urine infection. i have already taken amoxicillin for one week. is it safe to take so many medicines for my baby. i m 10 week pregnent.

Welcome to HCM,

Urine and yeast infection may not affect fetus, but infections are generally harmful.

Antibiotics and other medicines should be avoided during first trimester of pregnancy as far as possible, but their harmful effects should be weighed against possibility of harm to mother, in the absence of treatment.

As monistat is to be used locally, harmful effect on fetus is not expected.

Clindamycin is not contraindicated during pregnancy.
