Are Workouts Advisable While Having Elevated Blood Pressure?
I have been working with my doctor to get my blood pressure under control for the past 6 months. I have been on medication for 2 years. My bp is currently 150/115. Is this too high to workout? I m concerned about overexerting myself while pressure is high. Please advise.
Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand Your concern. High Blood pressure needs workup only if you are younger than 40, it is not controlling with three drugs including one diuretic. I would like to advise you to optimize your dose of antihypertensive add second or third drug if you are on single. start DASH diet that is low carb high protein diet with limited salt intake. Do regular aerobic excersize thirty minute a day five times a week. Do mantel relaxation excersize like Yoga and Meditation. if stil not controlled then do ultrasound abdomen, fasting lipid profile, blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine, serum electrolytes, random blood sugar and Urine R/E, ECG and ECHO. Hope it helps best. Don't forget to rate this answer and close the discussion at Healthcare Magic. Take your best care. Regards Dr Ejaz
