Arthritis And Diabetes. Had Staph Infection In The Leg. Knee Replacement Recommended. Need To Do Radiation?
My 55 yr old husband had a staph infection in his leg last year. His blood sugar was 500 and he has severe arthritis in his knee. he is now unable to straighten it and still walks with crutches.a few months ago he was put under and the dr. tried to straighten his leg. he was unable to and recommended it being fused straight. My husband found another dr. who is going to replace the knee but wants to do radiation first to prevent the bone from growing back. Is this common? I've never heard of that before.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The necessity of the radiation for straightening of the leg depends on the severity of the symptoms. A clinical examination is necessary to decide the line of treatment he should follow. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
