Arthritis, Knee Pain, Numbness And Swelling. Prescribed With Steroid. Should I Wait For Echography To Return?
Hello i tripped and fell on my left knee which already has arthritis. Although I was dizzy, I could walk on it. It swelled up and was pretty numb. i iced it took arnica and used arnica creme. Also took ibuprohone. Two weeks later the external part below knee still feels relatively numb. there was lots of bruising, that took a few days to come out , bruises drifted down into foot and are slowly going away. Swelling and nubmess still there. Saw generalist and rhematologue (france) and have an appointmnet with radiologue and echography and physical tehrapist but not until next week. Sometimes the swollen numb part feels warm (hot). Is it ok to wait until next week. Also using gel that s precribed anti steroid antiinflammatoire. Thanks sorry I thought it was free
hi and thanks for the query, It is very necessary to wait for the results of the echography before starting treatment. It is imperative under such circumstances to exclude an infectious process before starting to tale steroids. A complete blood count and a C reactive protein measurement could be very helpful to be sure of this first. The opinion of the orthopedic surgeon would be most helpful. Kind regards
