BP High, Test Results Normal, Not On Medication. What Could Be The Reasons For This?
for the past 6 weeks my blood pressure (especially the systolic) has been high mostly reading over 140 but with the distolic around 77 -85, My doctor after a number of blood tests and ECG readings which all came back normal decided not to put me on any medication yet. I am 36 years with no medical condition but it still worries me that my systolic has gone up that high. What could be some of the reasons for this.
Hypertension is defined when a person has persistent high blood pressure with values greater than or equal to; systolic 140 and diastolic 90. However, it is possible to also have isolated systolic hypertension in which case only the systolic is elevated.
Systolic readings varies considerable in normal persons and are greatly influence by the physiological need, exercise and stress. At values of 140 for systolic, it is not much of a concern but repeated monitoring ought to be made regularly as isolated systolic blood pressure is as important as well.
