Baby Started With Cold, Cough And Fever. Fever Gone, Prescribed Tixylix, Azi Antibiotic. Suggestion?

Cough usually take time to decrease.

Use the medication as prescribed by the doctor.

Is there any wheezing or hurried breathing?

If the cough is persisting, consult the pediatrician for reexamination and medication advise.

The antibiotic she has been given is likely azithromycin and exactly what I would give for bronchitis, which we are seeing a lot of right now. It will still take a week or more before the cough goes away so keep up the breathing treatments as prescribed also.

No breast milk is not sufficient for a 21 month old. He requires much higher calories than that is contained in breast milk. I appreciate that you are breast feeding your baby. Continue to breastfeed till 24 months atleast.

Monitor for danger signs like poor feeding, vomiting, loss of consciousness etc.

Monitor for rapid breathing, chest indrawing, abnormal sound while breathing (stridor). If any such problem is there take him back to the doctor immediately.

Also consult your doctor if your baby is not improving or continues to have fever.
