Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Back Pain, Pain Behind Knees, Leg Burn, Cramps In Feet. Taking Pravachol For Cholesterol. Side Effect?
I have been taking Pravachol for a long time for my high chloresterol. I have been having extreme back pain, pain behind my knees and my legs burn and I have cramps in my feet. When I bend down or stoop down I have a hard time getting up. I have to have my husband help me. It is though my muscles do not do their job. Can this is is it related to Pravachol?
Pravachol can lead to muscle pain but back pain may be occuring due to different reasons. As per your symptoms probability is lumbar disc bulge compressing your spinal nerves leading to pain in your hips and down.
MRI spine will confirm diagnosis so I will advise to do that. Muscle relaxant with neurotropic medication will help to relieve symptoms. Till that time Physiotherapy like USG and SWD will give some relief
I hope that I have answered your query. Let me know if I can help you further. Take care
