Back Spasms. History Of Herniated Disc In Her Cervical Neck Area. Would Tab Ultram Be Good?

HELLO, MY SISTER HAS BACK SPASMS R/T TO A HISTORY OF HERNIATED DISC IN HER CERVICAL NECK AREA. HER DR SAYS THE DISK IS FINE, THE SPASMS ARE BECAUSE SHE TIGHTENS UP WORRIED ABOUT THE DISC HERNIATING AGAIN. ANYWAY SHE HAS BEEN ON DILUDED FOR ALONG TIME. SHE HAS TAPERED FROM 2-3 A DAY TO AS NEEDED USUALLY A COUPLE A WEEK. SHE WANTS TO GET OFF THEM BUT DOES NEED SOMETHING AS SHE DOES STILL HAVE PAIN. WOULD ULTRAM OR BE GOOD FOR HER? OR WHAT MED WOULD YOU SUGGEST?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The back spasms that your sister is having due to disc prolapse is related to muscle spasms. Taking a pain killer like ultracet in combination with a muscle relaxant will be helpful.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
