Bad Odor While Urinating, Irregular Period. Done Urinalysis, Negative. What Is The Reason?
For about a year now I'm having a bad odor when urinating the week before my period only. My Dr. did a urinalysis and it came back negative. My a1c and metabolic panel and cbc all came back fine. I do not have any Stds and have been having regular periods. This month the odor is the strongest its ever been and my period should start in a few days. CAn you please help?
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
A very common cause for a strong urine smell is dehydration. It also depends on what you eat and drink as well as the acid-base status of your vagina.
When you are just about to get your period, your hormone levels are at their lowest and as a result the pH of your vagina changes. This change in pH can cause the bacteria that present in vaginal areas to change just enough that the smell down there can be a little different.
This is nothing to worry about.
Hope this helps. Wishing you good health. Please reply for further queries.
