Being A Patient Of High BP, How Do I Prevent Myself From Fear Of Getting A Heart Attack?

I am 38 years old and I am being treated for anxiety and high blood pressure. I have always had a fear of having a heart attack. When I was 20 it got to the point that I had a echocardiogram which showed a normal healthy heart. Just last week, my mothers half brother died of an enlarged heart at age 41. The coroner has said that he died of is genetic. Some sort of cardiomyopathy. I am now terrified this could happen to me. What can I do to prevent this? I exercise 3 times per week, some high intensity some low.

Hi and thanks for your question.
you can prevent heart attack by taking your anti hypertensives as prescribed, maintaining healthy diet which is low in salt cholesterol and rich in fresh vegetables and fruits, doing regular exercises, doing less stressful work.
Most of my patients have done the above and are doing well. Hope i answered your question.
