Being Overweight, What Could Cause Severe Pain In The Knees Along With History Of Hypertension?
hello , i am a 51 year old female overweight with high blood pressure and currently have primary care doctor my question is i am having severe pain on the inside of my right leg around what i call the inside area of the knee. I did not step wrong, turn it wrong or do anything i can thank of to cause this pain, the knee itself doesn't seem to hurt, the pain is beside and goes around to the back of the knee, i know there are countless ligaments, tendons, and other things going on in that area, my real concern would be a blood clot. my leg just pop up hurting two days ago, now running into the third evening. when i stay off of it the pain is not as bad, but does not ago away, i can't see anything or feel anything with my hand. if you may know what it could be please advise on treatment. thanks
Hello, I have gone through your query and understand your concern. At this age, Osteoarthritis is very common. First you have rule out any arthritis. As you said there is no history of any injury or accidental fall, there are some other causes which can also cause severe knee pain.
You have rule out Backer's cyst. it is one of the very common cause of the pain in posterior part of knee in females. It is nothing but a Inflammation of the popliteal bursa (fluid filled sac) at the back of the knee. your doctor will diagnose by simple examination and find a cyst like collection in back of knee. please follow this to reduce the pain 1. ice the area with ice packs. 2. Take pain killers like Ibuprofen 3. Give rest to the knee.
If these does not decrease the pain, you may need aspiration, injection and electrotherapy.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
