Biannual Bouts Of Excessive Vomiting Resulting In Weight Loss, Rehydration Drips In Veins Followed By Neck/ Feet.

Hi, my daughter is 30 now and has bouts of excessive vomiting approximately every 6 months. This results in huge weight loss, numerous trips to a and e for rehydration via drips, her veins are now beynd getting a drip ut in so they use her neck or her feet. All scans, bloods etc are normal. She has 3 young children and this has been going on for approximately 3 years :(

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi. I hope by this time your daughter must have had a consultation with many Doctors and may be a Gastroenterologist. I would advise a Upper GI Endoscopy, Barium studies for oesophagus, stomach and follow-through for small and large intestines ( enteroclysis if available ) . If the cause is found the treatment will be easy and effective. Does she have any psychological problems? ( a few female patients do have , what we call a psychogenic vomiting if all other investigations are normal)
