Bit My Tongue. Feel Painful. Suggest

hey. I bit my tounge whilst gurning off a cocktail of drugs on wednesday night/ thursday morning, I don't think any of the drugs got into the wound but it is very painfull and I havne't been able to eat properly since. What are the main dangers here? I've washed it out with salt water to prevent infection but I really could do with a method of dulling the pain so that i can eat as i'm back in work in 2 days.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You can consider the use of a topical anesthetic gargle or spray alone or in combination with oral anti inflammatory pain killers.
There are some anesthetic gargles or solutions that are used for sore throat that may be helpful, these are often combined with ant septic solutions which would reduce the chance of infection. Examples include chloroseptic.

Anti inflammatory pain killers such as aspirin or ibuprofen would also help, you can consider using 30 minutes before you want to eat.

I hope this helps
