Bled For 2 Days Due To Hitting Stomach, Breast Feeding 8 Month Old. Are Cycles Returning ?
I hit my stomach super hard the other night and I bled for two days straight but not at all the next day. I have immense pain in my stomach, it feels like gas, but stabbing instead of pressure. My son is eight months old and since he was born I have been breast feeding exclusively. Is it my cycle returning or something do do with me hurting my stomach?
Hello. I'm sorry you're uncomfortable. It isn't possible to determine what's going on here without a bit more information and an examination, but your symptoms are somewhat worrisome. If your cycle was returning, one wouldn't expect you to have pelvic pain that is worse or different from the periods you had prior to getting pregnant. The "immense pain" in your stomach suggests that your injury may have caused some internal damage or that something new is going on here, such as endometriosis (which is a common cause of irregular vaginal bleeding and severe pelvic pain). Endometriosis develops when tissue that normally only grows on the inside of your uterus (i.e., the endometrium) begins growing elsewhere in your body, such as along your fallopian tubes or on your ovaries. It isn't unusual for women to develop endometriosis following childbirth -- some experts believe endometrial tissue gets pushed backward through the fallopian tubes during labor.
In any event, your pain warrants further investigation. I suggest you call your OB/GYN.
I hope things go well!
