Bleeding And Sensitive Ear After Cleaning With Q-tip. Is This A Ruptured Eardrum?

I was cleaning my ear with a q-tip and my roommate decided that it would be a good idea to slap the q-tip into my ear. there was immediate shooting pain when this happened and blood on the q-tip. my ear is still in pain and it is sensitive to the touch. there is no urgent care open at this hour in Baton Rouge. I am not sure what to do or if my eardrum is ruptured.

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic,
There is a high chance of traumatic perforation of ear drum in your case. It is better to consult a doctor soon. Prevent water from entering the ear canal as it can cause middle ear infection. I would not recommend you to put any over the counter antibiotic ear drops without doctor's advice as some of them can have ototoxic properties which can cause hearing loss.
Hope this helped,
Take care
