Blepharitis Around Eyes, Sjogren's, Dry Eyes. Prescribed Hylira. What Medication Can Be Taken?
Yes, thank you. I had a bad case of Blepheritis around my eyes a few years ago. I was prescribed Hylira.
After a quick recovery... I have sjogrens and severe dry eye... Plugs, re stasis, gels etc.
I carefully manage. But I have it again .... Just corner of one eye and part of lid. Dr. Says its not available but a fabulous drug. Gave me another cream sample. But I see on-line advertised and reviewed. Help! Thx. Vicki P Maguire
Hello, Blepharitis is usually a chronic condition and sometimes it may not respond to treatment. The treatment may become difficult in few cases when blepharitis is associated with other ocular diseases like sjogrens disease, dry eye. Dry eye can be caused or exaggerated by the presence of blepharitis making the treatment difficult. However many lines of treatment are availbale. The first line is by lid scrubs, antibiotic eye ointments, artificial eye drops. The second line is by oral antibiotics, steroid preparations The third line is by punctal plugs.
Hylira is artificail tear eye drops and you can continue according to the advice of your ophthalmologist. However the treatment takes a long time and you to follow up regularly with your ophthalmologist. Thank you
