Blood In Stool, Low Hemoglobin. Premature To Diagnose Cancer?
My sister has a hemaglobin count of 8.2 and blood in her stool , they have called me from the nursing home and suggested she most likely has cancer . They have been treating her for kidney problems for several months, she has to be taken to the hospital 3 times a week for dialiysis. Aren t they a little premature with their comment??
Hi
Kidney could account for the anaemia - yes. But blood in the stool is an alarm signal - particularly, if there is no bleeding diathesis.
Presence of one disease is no guarantee for absence of any other illness - more than one may exist together.
There is an old saying - 'Think wild; act mild' - one should not miss a treatable/curable condition. I feel you ought to go ahead and have the cause investigated.
Good luck
