Blood In Urine. Ultrasound Showed A Mass, No Other Tests Done. Suggestions?

I RECENTLY HAD AN ULTRASOUND DUE TO SOME BLOOD IN MY URINE , THE ULTRASOUND SHOWED A MASS BUT WAS NOT DEFINITIVE AS TO WHAT IT WAS. SINCE THAT PERIOD OF TIME I HAVE HAD NO MORE BLOOD IN MY URINE AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS URINATING. THE DOCTOR I SAW DID NO BIOPSY OR BLOOD OR URINE TESTS WHICH I BELIEVE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE DEFINITIVE AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON. ANY SUGGESTIONS--BY THE WAY THE DOCTORS ONLY RESPONSE WAS TO TURP AND NOTHING ELSE.

Hi,
I would very strongly suggest that you go in for some more evaluation. Your urine sample should be submitted for cytology. A CT scan of Kidneys and bladder (with IV Contrast preferably if your kidney function is normal) should be done early to define the status of the growth, and pick up any additional growths. Lastly, you should have a transurethral procedure under anaesthesia, where any superficial growth can be resected completely, while a larger growth can be removed as much as possible to prevent bleeding and further growth while a deeper part of the mass can also be sent for assessment to see if there is any infiltration by the growth of the muscle. This will dictate the future treatment policy.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

You haven't mentioned about description of mass, site of mass.
As your doctor has advised for TURP, it could be from prostate. please mention about findings in your next question and get back to me.

Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
Dr. Vidya
