Could you kindly suggest possible management options for blurred vision or blurred spot after sustaining blunt trauma to Left eye one year back. The initial diagnosis was of berlin s edema . The visual field defect is on nasal side corresponding to macular area. Are there any Laser treatments available for berlins edema which had not resolved?
Dear user Berlins edema is the edema of the retina following blunt injury. It is also called as commotio retinae. It is usually a self resolving condition and resolves by 4-8 weeks. The main treatment is observation and follow up. Few doctors use oral steroid drugs. The cases with extensive damage to the retina may lead to other complications like choroidal rupture, choroidal neovascularization, macular hole.
In your case since the vision is not improved even after one year, you need to undergo examination and investigations like optical coherence topography and fundus fluorescien angiography.
The treatment mainly depends on the condition you are having. Thank you
