Based on the description, her swelling of the hand & shoulder could be due to a soft tissue contusion or a bony injury. An xray of the injured area will show up a fracture. Soft tissue contusions need only Ice packing, rest, moist heat fomentation and analgesic medications.
Tingling in the hand is a symptom of nerve irritation which could possibly in the cervical spine. An MRI scan of the cervical spine diagnoses this condition.
Consult an orthopedic surgeon for a detailed workup and further management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day

Body Pain, Swollen Hand And Shoulder After Fall, Cold Arm, Tingling Neck. Help
Hello, thanks for using health care magic Its an unfortunate situation what you have described. Swellings and severe pains on the areas of trauma are indications of a severe underlying trauma. Its a good thing that she did the x-rays but its unfortunate that the x-rays were not interpreted to say if there were associated fractures or not. If fractures are available, the management would be different. However, other signs such as loss of function, change in normal position of body parts affected are indications of an underlying fracture. Pain killers are always needed be it a fracture or simple contusion of soft tissue. Codiene or tramadol or paracetamol associated with ibuprofen would do some good. Best regards Dr Achuo
