Born Deaf And Dumb. Partial Hearing And Speech. Any Treatments Available?
Hello Doctor,
My sister is partially deaf and dumb by birth.one of her ear is at 30-40 hearing loss and another is 70-90.
she is able to speak some words and her thinking is good,may i know any treatment for this.
if treatment available then could you please provide the details of the treatment and if any devices required please provide those details also.

Hi,
Your sister is having a moderate hearing loss in one ear and severe to profound loss in another ear. I presume it is nerve related. She would benefit from hearing aids to begin with. She could also be a candidate for Cochlear implantation. These assisted hearing mechanisms could improve her ability to speak too.
Consult an ENT specialist at your area for more information.
