Born With Fair Complexion. After Exposure To Sunlight Skin Darkened With White Patches Growing All Over The Body. Treatment?

Hi, my son was born with fair complexion, two weeks later his complexion suddenly changed to dark. Can it be sunlight tanning as my mother in law kept him nude under sun light in the afternoon..now he's four month old with dark complexion having very dry sensitive skin with white patches which are growing all over his body..please advice on this.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

A baby is normally born with a fair complexion and slowly the pigmentation of skin increases resulting in a skin color depending on the genetic back ground of the parents. This is because of the increasing melanin.

No baby should be exposed to hot sunlight in the afternoon which is harmful for the baby.
