Bright And Thick Blood In Stool. Emergency? Worry?
Hello, I recently found blood in my stool , probably about 2 tbs worth. It was bright red but kind of thicker blood. Should I be concerned? If so should I make an appointment at the doctors or do I need to go to the emergency room? I am a female 19 years old and in good health as far as I know. I have no other symptoms and my last menstrual cycle was about two weeks ago. Thank you
Dear friend
The answer is a strong YES.
Blood - bright red, appreciable quantity, and apparently no associated complaint - point to the possibility of 'piles' (haemorrhoids).
You must see a general surgeon or surgical gasroenterologist. It may be obvious; yet a look by 'scope' is advisable - sigmoidoscope or colonoscope to rule out other causes like polyp
Good luck
