Broken Right Shoulder, Knee Hurt, Swelling And Bruising On Thighs, Overweight. Is This Due To Poor Circulation?
I fell and broke my shoulder (right) over a year ago. I hit my left knee , since then it seems smaller than my right knee and there is swelling on the inside just below. I walk and everything but I noticed that I have not really worked out in along time ( overweight for the first time) and I have swelling and bruising (reddish/purple) on my legs/thighs. Is this due to poor circulation?
Hi thank you for the question...I hoe all is well.
Your injured leg is smaller than the uninjured one, I would consider that you are favoring using the one that was not injured or even that you had a nerve injury...in either event, the end result could be muscle atrophy.
Reddish/purple is not a typical sign of poor circulation, unless you have severe swelling. In either event, you should be checked out by a physician.
With concern for circulation problems, swelling, etc you may need an ultrasound to evaluate for DVT.
Best of luck,,,let me know if I have helped or if you need additional advice.
