Broken Tibula And Fibula, Heaviness, Painful. Given Air Cast Boot. Will Ankle Heal Soon?
Yes. I broke my tibula and fibula in my right leg four weeks ago. After second week was put in an air cast boot. It is very heavy and painful around my ankle therefore I do not wear it. I am very careful with my ankle, mostly keeping it elevated all day. Is there a chance of my ankle not healing properly due to my not wearing the boot?

If you are keeping the leg properly immobilized then healing is possible but the air cast boot will help in the proper immobilization which will help in an early and proper healing.

Generally, any fracture needs some form of immobilization to heal or unite. An Air cast boot serves the purpose of maintaining support and stability.
It is not advisable to keep your leg without any support as it may end up in nonunion of bones owing to the movements that occur between fracture fragments during activities of daily living.
So, some form of external support is mandatory till the bony union occurs.
