Hello and welcome to HCM.
Thank you for your query.
I have gone through your query in detail, and if the culture and sensitivity has returned with a result of 'no growth', then it is not a UTI. Moreover, there were no white blood cells in the initial urine stick test either right? This means there is no infection.
Of course, the medications advised would be of no advantage to your husband. Instead of dwelling into infection only, let us look at all the possible causes of brown or tea-colored urine first:
-Copper poisoning
-Tyrosinemia (genetic disorder)
-
Liver abnormalities
-
Kidney disorders
-Infections in the renal system (kidney,
urinary bladder, or
ureter)
-Rhabdomyolysis
-Muscle injury
-Melanoma
These are the most common causes of brownish or tea-colored urine. If the color in the urine does return, then you would have to
consult a urologist or an internal medicine specialist who will guide you accordingly. Please also confirm the presence of blood in his urine when this brown urine returns (hoping it doesn't).
The treatment for each of the above mentioned conditions is different and will have to be taken up accordingly, which is why I am not mentioning treatment options here. In the meantime, give him plenty of fluids.
I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.
Best wishes.
