Bulky Uterus, Irregular And Painful Periods, Right Ovary Hemorrhaged After Surgery. Chances Of Getting Pregnant?

I have just been told I have a bulky uterus. Yesterday with no other complications. I'm 27 and have no children. I have had a d&c March 2007 for an embryonic sac as i was almost 12 weeks pregnant and did not know it. ive always had irregular and painful periods with lots of clots. and in April 2007 had a laparoscopy due to an ovarian cyst on my right ovary which hemorrhaged. What are my chances of falling pregnant?

hi.. thanks for writing to HCM..
you are having difficulty in conception..
you have bulky uterus.. could be due to fibriods..
your one ovary had cyst removed with haemorrhagic complication.. was it controlled spontaneously/or were they removed..
since you have one functioning ovary.. there is a fair chance of conception.. you see a infertility specialist..all the very best...

Hi.

The main aspect of your query is find out why your uterus is bulky. There are various conditions that can caused this and the cause will have to be found.

A transvaginal ultrasound or laparoscopy assisted with biopsy should help in finding the cause. The only reason why I ask is because even if you do end up conceiving, your uterus should be in a state to support your fetus and its growth. If there is an underlying condition that is left undiagnosed, this could reduce the chances of a successful pregnancy.

But otherwise, one of your ovary is still functional, although we should continue monitoring through the phase of conception, as the previous ovarian cyst does sound to me like an ectopic pregnancy.

Chances of pregnancy are lo, but not absent. And if all fails, I am sure you can still consider methods like intrauterine insemination or in-vitro fertilization with embryo transfer (if your uterus is in fact healthy).

Hope this helps.

Take care.
