Bump Like Sensation In Oesophagus, Painful. Had Partial Removal Of Thyroid. Taking Eltroxin. Express Concern?
Good day I have had partial removal of my thyroid many years ago. I take Eltroxin 0.05mg x 3 per day. I have been perfectly fine but 2 days ago I noticed a knob on the left side of my throat behind the thryoid, next to my oesophagus. Its painful to the touch and I noticed this whilst putting night cream on my neck. Is this any reason for concern? My thyroid (partial) had been removed due to a lump and this was benign. Based on the limited information you have given it is difficult to provide any advise. The neck around the thyroid gland has various kind of tissues that can give rise to swelling. It might very well be that the lymph nodes in that area might be swollen and tender from any potential respiratory infection in your throat. Looks like you are concerned whether the swelling is from your thyroid. This may be a possibility too but needs physical and laboratory (TSH, T3, T4) examination. At this time I will advise to consult your primary physician and get it examined.
Hope this helps.
