C Section. Can We Get Involved In Intercourse? When? Options For Birth Control?

hello sir

we got a baby girl on 5th of may 2013 through C section.

As advised by elders we waited for more than 40 days to have intercourse.

Now we do not want to have next baby soon.

My question to you
1. Can we get involved for first 3 months after deliver in intercourse with risking any pregnancy(Without any protection used)?
2. What are the options available for birth control?

Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
You can have intercourse even after 6 weeks of delivery.
If you are exclusively feeding your baby, risk of pregnancy is still there at 3 months.
It is better to use some barrier method or progesterone only pills till you are feeding your baby.
Take care.
