COPD, Strong Smell Of Ammonia In Nose, Watery Eyes, Pneumonia. Related Symptoms?
i have COPD ... last week i started with a strong ammonia odor smell in my nose .. to the point my eyes would tear... a few days later i became very ill, went to the doctor to find out i had pneumonia ... have been on bed rest and medication for the past 4 days. Was wondering if the strong ammonia odor i smelled and continue to smell was an indication of the pneumonia

Dear in COPD lung defence system is greatly weakened,and it is prone to be infected by typical and atypical bacteria ,and aerobic and anerobic bacteria ...... and most of the time mixed flora may be cultured .... so when ever it is involved by anerobes oy atypical ,it will cause Hallithoses and bad smell feom sputum .... Broad spectrum antibiotics covering both anerobes and atypical is the treatment .... wish you good health ...
