CT Scan Showed Slight Deviation Of Septum, Thickening Of Mucosal Lining In Nasal Sinus. Any Cure Without Surgery?
Hi. I had a CT Scan and it showed a slight deviation of the septum as well as a thickening of the mucosal lining in my left nasal sinuses. This CT Scan was brought about after 6 months of constant headaches, sinus infections and 'shadows' in my left eye, like dust motes chasing across my vision. I'm worried that this will mean surgery. I'm waiting on an ENT to make an appointment with me, but is there a way to cure this without surgery?
Hi thanks for your question. The CT scan report is suggestive of Deviated Nasal septum what is called as DNS.The thickening of sinus mucosa could be due to sinusitis which you might be having due to DNs.There is no treatment for DNS other than surgery.DNS can only be ignored if symptomless but you are having symptoms due to DNS, surgery is better option to get rid of symptoms. A detailed physical examination by an ENT specialist is necessary to determine whether you need surgery or not. Hope this answers your question.
