CT Showed Mass In Uterus, Suspicion Of Fibroid. What Other Tests Will Give Quicker Results?
I am 58 and never had children and recently had a ct scan done where they found a mass in my uterus. Have now been put on a wait list for a MRI witch could take up to a year to get. They think it is a Fibroid. Are there any other types of test I should be requesting that could be a little quicker to get. Answers. Concerned it might be more than just a Fibriod. Thanks for any info you can give Eileen
Hello, Fibroiduterus is usually an incidental diagnosis. CT itself is enough. But you have explained that it will take approximately one year for MRI. If you have excessive bleeding you may need blood tests and hormone analysis. Meanwhile you want to confirm it. The following other tests are done when USG is not conclusive 1) Hysterosonography. 2) Hysterosalpingography 3) Hysteroscopy One year is a too long period of waiting after confirmation of diagnosis. Waiting period may complicate the Fibroma CT is more than enough. Instead of waiting 1 year for MRI, depending upon the size revealed by the CT, and the symptoms, as per your age and children you have we can plan for surgery by consultation with a Gynecologist. Best wishes
