Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About a month ago I was awoken in the middle of the night with a calf cramp. The pain never really went away and my calf still feels like it has a continuous Charlie horse. About 3 days ago I noticed that the ankle on the same leg is now swollen. The leg and ankle are not hot to the touch or turning color. There is no pain in my ankle at all, just my calf.
I have studied your case. Muscle cramps can be reduced by Massaging the cramped muscle with your hands or oil Drinking plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration Stretching your leg muscles or riding a stationary cycle. Taking diet rich in calcium and potassium or oral supplements of the same Check your vit B12 and Vit D 3 levels.
Till time, avoid lifting weights, You can consult physiotherapist for help. Physiotherapy like ultrasound and interferential therapy will give quick relief.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
Take care
