Can 12-hour-relief Pseudoephedrine-HCL Be Taken Instead Of Afrin Nasal Congestion Spray?
Currently have a head cold. Sinus drainage, coughing. No fever or any other symptoms. It s all in my nose and sinuses. I take 10mg Lisinopril per day. I ve been using some Afrin for the congestion about every 12 hours for the past couple days. Can I take 12 hour pseudophedrine HCL instead of the Afrin?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are two products called Afrin, one is a nasal spray and the other is an oral medication containing pseudoephedrine. If you mean the second, then since it is the same active ingredient the answer is yes, it can be taken. If you mean spray product, it still belongs to a similar class and can be used, just keep in mind that possibility of side effects is higher with oral form.
I hope to have been of help.
