Can Amitriptyline And Sleeping Pills Be Taken Together?
I take 40mg of amitriptyline a night to help me not wake up with migraines and I’ve been having trouble sleeping so I bought healthy sleep pills by Jamieson and it says not to take with other medications but I was just wondering your opinion on this
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Very small and specific question: Amitriptyline at the dose of 40 should be sufficient to have a nice sleep and indirectly also helps in migraine too. If you are still having headache and/or loss of sleep, I would advise you the following in such a situation: Consult your Doctor for proper clinical evaluation, examination and investigations like MRI of brain and so on. Also think about how much stress and anxiety that you have as these increase the symptoms. He may then be in a position to write you another or additional medications as per all the evaluation and investigations. Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
