My daughter (5) has just had a bad bout of tonsilitis for which she has been given amoxcyllan (4ml 3 x per day) She started the course yesturday and her tonsils look better but her feet now have a red blotch rash on them (flat and red - not itchy or sore) coudl this be an allergic reaction to the medicine or just part of the tonsilitis?? Thanks
hello i have gone thruogh your query.it not an allergic reaction. It is important to note that an allergic reaction to amoxicillin will not cause a rash to appear. An allergic reaction will cause hives or difficulty breathing. The rash may be a sign that is suffering from a viral infection in addition to the bacterial infection. These spots are pink, small and flat and do not itch or cause discomfort. If you develop hives which are sore or the rash begins to itch, you may be suffering from an allergic reaction to the medication.10 percent of children who are given amoxicillin will experience a rash. In most cases it is not necessary to treat an amoxicillin rash. If the rash is not causing any discomfort it will simply disappear once your child finishes her prescription. If at any point, the rash becomes worse you should see a doctor. dont worry and take care
