Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I take 400 MG of tegretol a day , and my levels stay consistently at around 6.5 . I did a week of bactrim antibiotic for a sinus infection and two weeks of amaxacillin for the same reason right after the bactrim, and my tegretol levels have dropped to 3.5. Accompanied by mood changes , brain not feeling right and a manic feeling. I assumed it was one of these drugs but I also just started taking an axtaxanthin suppliment in b2 or 3 months ago. Can axtaxanthin mess up ur tegretol levels? Or is it more likely one of these other two antibiotics?? Thank you sooo much for any opinion or advise!
HI Well come to HCM Let me ask you something, does level of this drug 'Tegretol' mean to you something because clinical effect is matter of concern if you are getting good result of this drug then why to worry about the level of this drug, drug level in system is highly variable phenomenon and this is subject of research, I think patient may not be worry about this instead should be worry about the disease for what this is being given, hope this helps, take care.
