Can CDI-TRUS Or MRI-S Be Done Instead Of Biopsy For Trace Amoounts Of Blood In Urine, PSA 8.4?

I recently had a PSA with a reading of 8.4. last year it was 3.7 and the year prior 4.3. My Urologist di a urine test that revealed trace amounts of blood. he now want to do a biopsy and I based on what i read about side affects I am not sure this is the best next step. What about a CDI-TRUS or MRI-S as an alternative?

Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have your serum P.S.A of 8.4 which is one of the major factor to suspect cancer of the prostate.
The only confirmative tests especially as regards the nature of pathology and grade of the cancer can be determined by multi core Prostate Biopsy only.
The MRI and CDI-TRUS will indicate presence of cancer but it will not help in taking the decision as regards modality of treatment and grade of disease (Glison's Score) and tissue diagnosis..
Thanks and Regards.
