Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am goibg on 20 mg of carbimzole tomorrow, I don t want to put weight on, I am already really upset with my weight as it is, how much exercise do I need to do to lose weight when on the medication. I am breastfeeding my 12 month old, I don t want the medication to affect my little boy so I am going to take the meditation at 7.00pm every night because I don t breastfeed him in the night (I only breastfeed in the day up to 7.00pm). So is it ok to have the medication at 7.00pm and feed him at 6.00am?
Carbimazole is secreted in breast feeding, however, it is not contraindicated with breast feeding. We generally recommend to use the lowest possible dose of the drug. In lower doses, it rarely cause any problem to the baby. This is also good that you take the tablets in the night and feed the baby at night.
Hope I have answered your question. I will be glad to answer any further question about this.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
