Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a few questions about the SSRI Cipralex 1) Can I drink alcohol while taking Cipralex 2) Can I smoke marijuana while taking Cipralex 3) Is it possible for the side effect of a decreased libido to be permanent 4) How difficult is it to come off of Cipralex
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is always to avoid alcohol when you or psychiatric drugs. Alcohol may potentiates the effects of SSRI and can result in adverse reactions. Same is with marijuana and complications are more likely. Decreased libido is rare and it won’t be permanent. You can wean of from SSRI easily and it won’t produce any withdrawal symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
