I have a Uti and was prescribed Cipro and Happen to take theophylline for COPD. THE PA probably didn t look in my chart but my pharmacist was very nervous and told me not to take both together. When I called to He era office got the on call dr and he said just to take half of the Theo pill. When I told the pharmacist he wanted everything documented and was very nervous. He said there had been fatalities with the combination of the two drugs the doctor actually laughed at thu . Right now I m not taking either just the peridium for the pain. Don t no wgHat to do.
If you are already taking Theophilline, you need to adjust the dose before starting Cipro as your doctor has asked you to half the dose. Contact your doctor if you develop nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache, tremor, confusion, restlessness, insomnia, seizures, heart palpitations, and/or irregular heartbeat, as these may be signs and symptoms of excessive Theophylline levels.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Himani Saroha
