Can Clavam Be Taken For Cough And Cold?

Hello Doctor. I am 32yrs old and weigh 55kg. I am suffering from dry cough and fever( only at night) since 5 days. I always suffer from cough and cold whenever the season change. And my BP is always 110/70. When I consult doctor,he prescribed me Clavum 625mg,3 times/ 8hr interval/ 3 days. Should I take it?

Clavam is an antibiotic and is frequently prescribed for the treatment of cold and cough by some physicians. I however prefer to give the medicine for 5 days not 3 days.

However watch out for the side effects like loosestools, nausea and abdominal discomfort. I usually prescribe probiotics along with the clavam to avoid the side effects
