Can Combiflam Be Taken In Place Of Dolo 650?

Hello Doctor,I had been suffering from cough tonsils and fever three days back but at present my tonsils are fine and I am having a little cough but my fever is not getting down although I have been taking dolo 650 three times from last three days.I just wanted to know if I could replace dolo 650 by Combiflam as I think the salt of dolo 650 is not having any effect on me.

I can understand your concern. Dolo 650 contains Paracetamol 650 mg while Combiflam is a combination of Paracetamol 500 mg and Ibuprofen 400 mg. For your explained condition, you can replace Dolo 650 with Combiflam.

However, I would also advise you take Azithromycin 500 (Azee 500) mg once a day for 3 days for control of infection as the fever is due to infection and Combiflam or Dolo 650 will give only symptomatic relief from fever as long as its effects last while the antibiotic will combat with the bacterial infection of the throat.

In addition, if the fever does not go down after 3 days despite taking Azithromycin, you should go for clinical examination and investigations like blood test by the physician.
