General & Family Physician, Dr. Dr. H Kay's Response
Hi,
Yes, Concerta can cause green stools as a side effect. Concerts has the active ingredient methylphenidate, which is a central nervous system stimulant that can affect the digestive system and lead to changes in stool color.
Green stools can also be caused by other factors such as diet, medications, and underlying medical conditions. However, given that you recently started taking Concerta and have not experienced green stools before, it is possible that the medication is causing this change in stool color.
If you are not experiencing any other symptoms and your stools are solid, it is likely not a cause for concern. However, if you continue to experience green stools or have any other symptoms, you should speak with your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying medical conditions or potential medication side effects.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. H. Kay, General & Family Physician
