I am 23 years, 5.4 inch, 60 kg & no medical history. Now i am 5 months pregnant & i have found Tuberculous cervical lymphadenopathy please advice me weather i should go with DOT medication, will it create any complication to my normal delivery or to my child
Welcome to HealthcareMagic, Tuberculosis is a cause of concern specially during pregnancy. You need to get your sputum sample tested for TB bacteria and also a chest x-ray. If the physician feels you have active tuberculosis then you should start DOT treatment. This treatment should be started as soon as possible so that tuberculosis should not damage the mother and child. Taking the DOT treatment posses little risk to the baby but overall it is beneficial to the baby and hence treatment of the mother needs to be started. Hope that answers your question. Regards, Dr.Imaad.
