Can Differin And Acretin Affect The Growth Of The Fetus?

I am now pregnant in first month and I am 22 years old my height is 155 and my weight is 54 , I have an inflammation of the bladder, and I was taking Zinnat and I did not know I was pregnant, and I also used differin and Acretin for my face. Do these drugs affect the growth of the fetus and does it cause congenital malformation?

Hi,

There is no reliable study available about teratogenic risk of Zinnat. Still, this drug should be used carefully in pregnancy taking into consideration of risks vs benefits of drug. Differin, when used topically does not have any known ill effect on the mother or fetus and hence it may be used safely during pregnancy. Acretin, has been known to cause teratogenic effect, when being used in pregnancy, hence it should not be used during 1st trimester of pregnancy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
