Can Diovan Be Taken For Chest Discomfort?

I woke up this morning feeling like a weight was on my chest. I take 100 mg of metoprolol 2 a day. I was taking 100 mg of losarton a day but lost my inssurance and tryed to go without. Asked dr for a refill but she didnt get it called in. I found an old sample of diovan 320 mg. Is it safe to take? exp was nov 2012.

Hi Dear ,

As per your query you have chest discomfort when woke up in the morning . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like angina , other heart related problems like heart failure , chest or lung infection , acid reflux . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are either due to acid reflux or angina . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist for proper examination . Doctor may order ECG , TMT , complete blood profile and sometimes angiography . Doctor may prescribe beta blockers , calcium channel blockers and anticoagulant like heparin . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist if he/she find this problem to be related with acid reflux . For now keep your head elevated while sleeping and avoid spicy and heavy food .
