Is there a bad reaction possible with the interaction of Effexor and Xanax ? Regular taker of Effexor took a Xanax tonight to deal with a stressful situation i.e. death in family. She takes Effexor every day and has not taken her Effexor yet tonight.
- Xanax (Alprazolam) is a benzodiazepine which works by enhancing the effects of GABA in the body. It is also used to treat panic disorders and anxiety.
They can be taking both, but with the risk of dizziness, lack of concentration, confusion and drowsiness. So, ask her not to drive when taking both and not to drink alcoholic drinks.
Hope this helps.
