Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My OBGYN has prescribed Gabapentin 300 MG for menopausal symptoms. I m concerned because everything I read indicates this medication is for seizures. I see nothing telling me it s right for menopausal symptoms: hot flashes, sweating profusely which then turns to cold chills. Why did he prescribe this med? My dosage is one tablet daily at bedtime and he will increase dosage to 2x daily if this med helps. I was previously on estrotest until very recently after a knee replacement followed by laser surgery for kidney stones. Thanks for your response.

Can Gabapentin Be Taken For Hot Flashes?
Hello, I understand your concern. Gabapentin is also effective in control of menopausal hot flashes. The most commonly used dose of Gabapentin is 900 mg per day. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
