General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, this medication has been used in persons who are not overtly diabetic but who at at risk of becoming a diabetic.
Normally the SR type of glyformin is used only once daily because it is a long acting medication that is released slowly in the body. You may need to consider speaking to your doctor about adjusting how it is taken

This medication is good because it reduces insulin resistance.

It would not causes a weight increase but would either help prevent further weight gain or help you to lose weight.

I hope this helps
